Lindsey and Jim celebrated their new marriage on their Argentina / Patagonia honeymoon by exploring the dazzling sights, rich culture, and breathtaking wilderness of Argentina. They started out in Buenos Aires, getting the chance to attend one of the country’s most famed cultural highlights: a Tango & Folklore Show. They also took several guided walks around the city, exploring the unique neighborhoods, learning about the culture and history up-close, and seeing the incredible street art that gives Buenos Aires part of its vibrant feel. The next portion of their trip took them south to Argentine Patagonia, first visiting Calafate, where they boated through serene Lago Argentino and stood in front of the magnificent Perito Moreno glacier, and then they hiked along paths of the nearly untouched wilderness while visiting Estancia Cristina.
For the next few days of their trip, they stayed at a luxury lodge in Southern Patagonia. With sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and river just in front of the lodge as their scenery, Lindsey and Jim were able to tailor their activities to their liking, choosing to be as active or leisurely as they wished. They then moved on to the final portion of their trip with a short stay at estancia Candelaria del Monte before departing for home.

SENSATIONAL ARGENTINA & PATAGONIA HONEYMOON
DAY 1 USA – Buenos Aires
You will take an overnight flight from the U.S. arriving to Buenos Aires the following morning.
DAY 2 Buenos Aires
After arriving early morning into Buenos Aires you will be met at the airport by a Knowmad Adventures guide and taken on a guided half-day exploration of Buenos Aires, seeing the most important sights and centerpieces of this wonderful city. Dive deep into its culturally rich neighborhoods: San Telmo, Puerto Madero and La Recoleta. The adventure highlights many aspects of the city: the historic development, the immigration process, specific cultural topics (soccer, tango music), its architectural heritage, Peronism and other interesting features of Argentine society. Soak in the unique architecture, beautiful plazas and colorful culture of this famed city. After this exploration you will be taken to your accommodations in the artsy neighborhood of Palermo Soho.

DAY 3 Buenos Aires
Enjoy the day at your leisure to continue exploring the sights, sounds, food & wine of Buenos Aires. In the evening you will experience one of Argentina’s trademarks: Tango. Born from the mixture of african, gaucho and european roots deep in the rioplatense culture going back to the mid 1800s, tango has developed into a complex mixture of art and a true expression of the Argentine point of view. Later this day, your tango guide will pick you up at your accommodations to begin a night out on the town, while also telling you about the history of tango and all of the insider gossip. First you will go to a tango dance class and will be taken to a local and typical Argentine restaurant for dinner. Afterwards you will enjoy an elegant Tango & Folklore show where from start to finish you will feel immersed in the passion of Argentine tango and culture.

DAY 4 Buenos Aires
Enjoy the morning independently before being met at your accommodations in the afternoon for a guided exploration that will delve deep into the La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires, experiencing it in a way that only the locals do. Your guide will take you not only through Caminito, but also to see the best street art, visit a police station with incredible artwork, go inside cultural centers, walk the streets with the locals, eat in their corner cafes, and experience the real port neighborhood of La Boca. After this deeply cultural experience you will be taken back to your accommodations.

DAY 5 Buenos Aires – El Calafate
You will be picked up and taken to the airport in accordance with your onward flight to Calafate. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by a Knowmad Adventures representative and transferred to your accommodations approximately 20 minutes away from the airport. Have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beautiful landscapes offered by the location of this hotel, or enjoy the spa.

DAY 6 Lago Argentino & Perito Moreno
In the early afternoon you will be picked up by a shared transfer to head to the Nibepo Aike pier, where you will board a 15-passenger boat for the day’s adventure. First you will navigate the South and Rico arms of the Argentinian Lake with breathtaking views of the mountain ranges Adriana & Moreno. Landing on Las Monedas beach, you will embark on an approximately 1-hour hike through the woods, taking in the gorgeous scenery around you. After returning to the boat you will continue navigating around Lake Argentino and approach the glacier. Afterwards you will disembark at Bajo Las Sombras Pier to head to the Perito Moreno viewpoint balconies, where you can soak in the breathtaking beauty of the glacier and enjoy the photo opportunities that abound. At the end of the day’s exploration you will be transferred back to your accommodations.

DAY 7 Estancia Cristina
You will be picked up in the morning by an Estancia Cristina representative to begin an incredible adventure deep into Patagonia. Estancia Cristina, named in honor of the first owner’s daughter, was founded in 1914 by Joseph Percival Masters. Passed down through generations, this property is rich in history, having once been alive with working herds of horses, cattle and sheep. After a short drive to Puerto Banderas you will board a modern and comfortable catamaran sailing amongst icebergs on Lago Argentino with breathtaking views of the Upsala Glacier. After approximately 3 hours sailing on Lake Argentino you will arrive at the port of Estancia Cristina, and from here take a 4-wheel drive up a mountain road to where you will begin hiking. Enjoy hiking through land that until recently had been covered by glaciers, rewarded with views of Lake William and the Upsala Glacier, Southern Ice Field and Murallon and Don Bosco mountains. Especially noteworthy, enjoy descending through Fossil Canyon, where the rocks are adorned with ancient fossils. In the afternoon you’ll head back to Puerto Banderas and be taken back to your accommodations in Calafate.

DAY 8 El Calafate – El Chalten & Lago del Desierto
In the morning you will be picked up by a semi private van to begin the approximately 3.5 hour ride to El Chalten. Upon arrival in El Chalten you will change vehicles and depart to Laguna del Desierto , where an Aguas Arriba representative will receive you and hike to the lodge. While at Aguas Arriba Lodge you will be able to choose from a wide range of adventurous excursions. Many hikes within the property are included, boat rides and fly-fishing can be arranged for an additional cost upon arrival. To continue to preserve the beauty of the region some activities will require a $10 National Park entrance. Enjoy local, fresh & organic food as part of your adventure inclusive package. Please note that alcoholic beverages are not included.

DAY 11 El Chalten & Lago del Desierto – El Calafate
Today you will depart back to Chalten in the afternoon, and then board a semi private van back to Calafate. You will overnight in Calafate before you morning flight to Buenos Aires.

DAY 12 Patagonia – Buenos Aires – San Miguel del Monte
Today you will be transferred to the airport in accordance with your onward flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival in Buenos Aires you will be met by a Spanish speaking driver and taken to your accommodations in the picturesque Argentine Pampas. Candelaria del Monte is an estancia owned by a local artist and emphasizes a tailor-made, home-cooked menu based on fresh produce from their very own farm. Enjoy an evening at your leisure with endless skies and the old-world charm of the elegant Pampas manor.

DAY 13 San Miguel del Monte – Buenos Aires – USA
Enjoy a morning at your leisure relaxing at the beautiful estate with a variety of activities including strolling through the century old tree groves, a dip in the swimming pool, a siesta on the sunny veranda or horseback riding. In the afternoon you will be picked up by a Spanish speaking driver and transferred to the airport in accordance with your international overnight flight home.
