DAY 1 SALTA – CAFAYATE

Fly into Salta and be met by your Knowmad guide. Begin driving through the Lerma Valley, an important agricultural valley in the region, before entering the breathtaking Quebrada de las Conchas canyon. Stop for some light hiking near La Yesera, full of twisting and colorful rock formations. Finish your day in Cafayate, the heart of high-altitude wine country, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch paired with some of the region’s local wine, explore the town and discover their local handicraft market, and check into your hotel for the night.

DAY 2 CAFAYATE

After breakfast, head south towards the Ruins of Quilmes, a fascinating pre-Incan site and home to the Quilmes people. After exploring the ruins, return to Cafayate, where you’ll visit the Vine and Wine Museum to learn more about the unique aspects of high-altitude wine cultivation. Then it’s off to El Porvenir, a female-led, family-run winery for a private wine tasting and delicious, locally-made lunch. Try some of their unique, high-altitude wines with gorgeous views of nearby mountains before returning to your hotel.

DAY 3 CAFAYATE – COLOME

Today, you’ll have the morning free to relax at your hotel or wander and shop around Cafayate. You’ll then begin your drive through the Calchaquí Valleys, passing small colonial towns and winding rocky canyons. You’ll end your day in Colomé, a town known for its wine and ancient culture. Enjoy a tasting and lunch before checking into your hotel, where you can relax in the evening, sipping on a glass of delicious, local wine while watching the sunset behind the hills.

DAY 4 COLOME

Enjoy the morning at your leisure, relaxing at the pool or exploring the estancia’s vineyards. In the afternoon, visit the Tacuil Winery, the oldest winery in Argentina. Taste some of their delicious varieties and learn about their high-altitude processes, all while enjoying the beautiful canyon views. Finish your day with a visit to the fascinating James Turrell Museum, home to several incredible and unique light installations made by the world-renowned artist, before returning to your hotel for the evening.

DAY 5 COLOME – SALTA – ONWARDS

After breakfast, begin driving back to Salta, driving down the breathtaking Cuesta del Obispo, a spectacular winding road that zigzags down the foothills of the Andes. After stopping for refreshments in the village of Maray, continue on the winding road, driving through high, grassy landscapes and into lush jungle before returning to the Salta airport. Board your flight onward to your next destination.
